Tipsy driver loses control of Mercedes, Kills 1

HYDERABAD: A railway contractor, who was fully drunk, crushed a pedestrian to death and hit an auto-rickshaw as he lost control of his Mercedes Benz in the Jubilee Hills area late on Monday night.The auto driver’s condition is said to be serious.Police, who rushed to the spot, confirmed that the contractor, identified as Srinivas, was in an inebriated condition. The accident took place on Jubilee Hills Road No 47 near the Praja Rajyam Party office.Srinivas, a resident of road no 46, first hit an electric pole and then run over a pedestrian before crashing into a parked auto-rickshaw. The pedestrian was identified as Bharat (18), a worker at a nearby kirana store. He had closed the store and was going to a nearby dust bin to throw the garbage when he came under the wheels of the Benz, the police said.
