BANGALORE: An Assistant Sub Inspector of Police (ASI) and two traffic police constables have been suspended for dereliction of duty. Sampangi is the ASI who has been suspended. He was attached to Adugodi traffic police station.Prashanth Kumar of Adugodi traffic police station and Obalesh of Ashokanagar traffic police station are the constables suspended.ASI Sampangi was suspended for illegally taking Rs 100 from T S Chetan Kumar on Koramangala Inner Ring Road on December 1. Sampangi who found registration numbers in Kannada on Chetan’s moped asked him to pay a fine of Rs 700.Despite Chetan’s request that he would change the board, Sampangi illegally collected Rs 100 from him without giving any receipt.Constable Prashanth, who was deputed at Srinivagilu Junction on November 30, had not followed the instruction and had gone near Koramangala water tank. Also, he allegedly collected Rs 100 from a bike rider, Rathnesh, illegally. He is also charged of forcibly taking Rs 200 from Darshan Hulam, a biker, on Koramangala 100 Feet Road. Prashanth stopped Darshan and asked for his license. As he had kept the license at home, the cop demanded Rs 1000 and later bargained it to Rs 700.Though Darshan did not have money, the police made Darshan’s friend to come to the spot and collected Rs 200 from him.Meanwhile, Obalesh was suspended for allegedly taking Rs 60 from Muniraju, a biker, near Anepalya Junction on Bannerghatta Road on December 2.
