HYDERABAD: The traffic drive against drunken driving will bank on an element of surprise to catch ciolators. As against conducting the drive on weekends between 10 p.m to 1 a.m, traffic police would now be conducting the drive on any day and any time. “The enforcement against drunken driving will take on the element of surprise from now in terms of location, timings, day or night,’’ additional commissioner of police (traffic) CV Anand said.Meanwhile, the special drive on November 25 and 27 led to the arrest of 185 drunken drivers. Of the detained vehicles, 58 were cars, 120 two-wheelers and seven auto rickshaws. The arrested persons were produced before the IV Metropolitan Magistrate and a fine up to Rs 2,500 imposed and their driving licences suspended for three months, an official release said on Tuesday.
