Trio robs woman of 23 sovereigns

CHENNAI: A woman was allegedly robbed of 23 sovereigns of gold by three men, at Redhills on Thursday.Police said, Subhashini (28) of Kamaraj Nagar, Redhills was at home with her daughter Rithiyani (6), when a trio, with their faces covered by handkerchiefs, knocked on the door of her house and asked her for some water.  When she went inside to fetch the water, thy went behind Subhasini, overpowered her and tied her to a chair. They then decamped with 23 sovereigns from the house.Her husband, Satish (29), a tile shop owner and their son Rashwanth (9), a Class IV student, were not at home when the incident occurred.A case was registered.On Tuesday, an octogenarian, who was living alone in an apartment at Palavanthangal, was robbed of 32 sovereigns by a duo.
