TTD holds free mass upanayanams

TIRUMALA: Mass free upanayanams were performed in a traditional manner at the Kalyana vedika, here on Thursday, by the TTD Purohita Sangam in connection with Shankara Jayanti.TTD Jt EO K S Srinivasa Raju said, the event had begun by TTD eight years ago on the occasion of Shankara Jayanti and had been very successful. “This is the first time we are performing this traditional fete in the newly constructed spacious Kalyana Vedika. Free mass upanayanams have been performed to 40 boys, who had registered their names with the Purohita Sangam,” he explained.
