TIRUMALA: TTD has proposed to introduce a curriculum for personality development and psychological counselling in its educational institutions.Personality development classes would help the students streamline their thoughts and inculcate discipline, opined a senior TTD employee who felt it was important to see to it that the students don’t hurt themselves or their friends in the name of love and infatuation.The TTD administration is taking the help of educationists to draft the proposal in this regard. A group of psychiatrists submitted their reports recently, too.“It was proposed that three to five psychiatrists be appointed to take three classes per week in undergraduate colleges and Rs 10 be collected from each student,” TTD JEO N Yuvaraj said.The entire proposal has to be studied and finalised by the executive officer, he added.Recent incident in Veda Patashala run by TTD in Tirumala, where a student was sexually abused, seems to have led the TTD to consider stepping up of disciplinary measures.As directed by the TTD Specified Authority in its last meeting, TTD officials, especially vigilance wing is working to ensure that no such incidents in any o f the TTD institutions.Night vigil in the TTD hostels is likely to be made mandatory, sources said.
