Patna: The authorities on Thursday seized Rs 30.01 lakh unaccounted cash, 14,054 litres of liquor and a haul of arms in Bihar. The authorities seized Rs 20 lakh cash from Gopalganj district, Rs 4.10 lakh from Katihar, Rs 2.40 lakh from Vaishali, Rs 1.65 lakh from Aurangabad district, Rs 1.08 lakh from Bhojpur district and Rs 78,000 from Siwan district, according to a release from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
The flying squads and static surveillance squads have so far seized Rs 10.86 crore in Bihar of which Rs 1.29 crore has been confiscated, while Rs 4.60 crore released to the legitimate owners after verification by district teams, the release said. In addition, 14,054 litres of liquor was recovered from across the state, it said, adding eight magazines, two base machines and two drill machines were seized from Munger district.
In incidents related to enforcement of Model Code of Conduct (MCC), 19 cases of defacement of public property and two related to defacement of private property have been lodged, the release said. Five cases have been lodged for misuse of vehicle, one for violation of loudspeaker act and three cases of inducement/gratification to electors.
Seizures on law and order front include 12 arms/weapons, 275 cartridges, nine bombs, while two illegal arms manufacturing centres raided and seizures were made from there, it said.
As many as 1,217 arms licenses were deposited and 55 arms licenses cancelled, the release said, adding 6,918 persons have been held under preventive sections of CrPC and 717 non-bailable warrants executed, besides Rs 12.59 lakh fine collected during vehicle checking.
