Art has no language and recognises no boundary. Thus an inter-state exchange of art in India with its multi-cultural fabric would only serve to bring vibrancy to the art scene and artists.Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi hosted a five-day art exhibition by the Uttar Pradesh State Lalit Kala Akademi recently at Bhubaneswar with 31 art works on display. The artists featured included both the established and promising ones from Uttar Pradesh. The themes treated ranged from myths and religion to nature studies and even abstractions. Some of the works stood out for their conceptualisation, colour schemes and execution. College Days (mixed media) by Alka Chaddha, The Nature (oil) by Abhaya Verma, The Moon-lit Night (oil) by Arshad Amin, Raag Lalit (watercolour) by Jagdish Verma, Atrang (pen and pencil) by Parmatma Prasad Srivastav, Under the Tree (oil) by Prema Mishra, Moods of Nature (ink) by Badri Narayan Verma, Music (oil) by Ramshabd Singh, Dhyan Mudra (mixed media) by Vivek Sharma Swapnil Srivastav’s Deire (oil) impressed with their thematic treatment and technical expertise.Human emotions were also played out in many paintings that had a blend of traditional and modern. The modernistic touches added intensity to the evocativeness of the pictures.Of late, the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi has started such inter-state exchange of art through exhibitions providing a much-needed exposure to the artists and art students. The Akademi authorities say many such exhibitions will be held at regular intervals.
