Vasan to attend meet on promotion of Cruise ship

KOCHI: Shipping Minister G K Vasan along with the Parliamentary Panel attached to the Shipping Ministry will hold discussions on promotion of cruise shipping in the country, in Kochi on Friday. Six members of the Consultative Committee of the Members of Parliament affiliated to the Shipping Ministry - Francisco Sardinha, A K F Vijayan, Vishnuprasad Tarai, D B Solenki, Purushotham K Rupala and Aaron Rasheed - will be attending the discussions to be held onboard cruise vessel Amej Majesty in Kochi. Other top officials of the Shipping Ministry including Shipping secretary K Mohandas, joint director general of Shipping Suresh Kumar, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and the chairmen of six major ports in the country - Bombay, Goa, Kochi, Magalore, Tuticorin and Chennai - will attend the meet. “The meeting will discuss the various aspects and possibilities for promoting cruise shipping in the country. Since Kochi has major activities in cruise shipping the meeting is being organised here,” said officials.
