CHENNAI: Rains have ushered in a bountiful supply of vegetables — a good news to buyers. The ample supply has brought down the prices at Koyambedu market.According to traders, large amounts of rainfall in different parts of Tamil Nadu has resulted in good yield and consequently excess supply of vegetables to the market.There has been a marked increase in supply of vegetables from Madurai, Tiruchy, Vellore, Hosur and from Andhra and Karnataka.While, usually about 250-300 lorries cater to the market’s demands everyday, at present 350-400 lorries have been pressed into service. According to the new price list put up at the market, the cost of a kilo of potato is `15, beans and carrot `18, cucumber `16, peas `45, green chilly `15, tomato `8, cauliflower `7, drumstick `20, ginger `30 and onion `15.
