Mumbai: It’s a day most Mumbaikars will not forget in a hurry. On July 26, 005, nature's fury lashed out on the Maximum City with all its fury, uniting the citizens in its wake.
As the city looks back on the deluge, Bollywood is ready with a film set in the same fateful night. Title 26 July at Barista, the movie tells the story of some people who got stuck at a Barista coffee shop on July 26 and took charge of the situation.
Interestingly, the director of the film Mohan Sharma was also stranded at a coffee shop that night and that's when inspiration struck. "The anger and the trauma that people went through, I wanted to show that to people. So that people should know that in times of crisis we all need to be there for each other," he says.
The film is shot mostly in candlelight, giving debutant lead actors Simran and Kabir the perfect romantic setting.
“We shot for 35 days, and before my shot, they would pour litres of mineral water on me. We were shooting in an AC studio. And while shivering, I realised the amount of pain and trauma that people must have gone through that fateful day," says Simran.
The movie will hit theatres on Friday.
