VELLORE: With the delayed implementation the Uniform System of Education (USE), students are worried if the teacher would rush through to complete the portions, but educationists and health experts recommend the continuation of yoga and meditation classes that were being undertaken for the past one-and-a-half months to get rid of the fear.Educationist and headmaster of Sri Venkateswara HSS, Vellore, P Ravikumar says that schools should somehow allot timings at least after the class hours for these recreational activities. This will automatically remove the concern over the completion of the subjects and added that these activities are also the need of the hour during the introduction of the new system.Ravikumar notes that the method of teaching for Class VI and X students would be made practical-oriented, and the Class X students will be taught to prepare for board examinations.Correspondent of the Sunbeam Matriculation HSS, T Harigopal, says the systems has given rooms for projects and practical-oriented education and hence they did not lose any time during the past one-and-a-half months However, the new system doesn’t compromise with the syllabus covered, he says adding that books should be updated every year.Since the objective of the USE is to bring equality among the privileged and less privileged kids, the change should be brought even to the infrastructure and other facilities of the government schools, he says.According to the Chief Educational Officer, Punniyakoti said monthly test, unit tests will be conducted now and then. In addition to this special training to the teachers to handle difficult chapters in the subject has also been planned.
