Woman ends life with infant girl

CHENNAI: A woman committed suicide with her infant daughter at Aminijikarai, in Chennai on Tuesday, allegedly because the child was physically challenged.Police said the victims were identified as A Kanaga (23), a resident of New Street in Ponnuvel Thottam, Ambattur, and her daughter Dakshani (2).Sources said Arumugam, husband of Kanaga, found the bodies floating in the well at their residence in Ponnuvel Thottam. Dakshani was born with a disability on her leg and and was undergoing treatment at the Egmore Children’s Hospital. An operation wasscheduled to be performed on her on April 7. Under these circumstances, when Arumugham returned from work on Tuesday night he found his wife and daughter missing.  When he looked into the well he found their bodies and informed the police. Fire and rescue service personnel from Kilpauk station came to the spot and fished out the bodies, which were sent to KMCH for autopsy.
