CHENNAI: A 38-year-old man lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday after his wife, a stage performer, went missing after landing at Chennai airport from Dubai.Police said Meena (27) of Kanyakumari district is a dancer who had performed in stage shows. She had travelled with a group of dancers to Dubai for shows on April 24 and returned on July 23. The woman reportedly told her husband, Raja over phone, who was waiting outside the airport that her plane had landed at Chennai and she would come out of the terminal in a few minutes. When Meena did not appear, Raja enquired with a member of her group who confirmed that she had returned with the group. She also reportedly told Raja that his wife had met a man from Kerala in Dubai who accompanied her back to Chennai. 4 Held in Murder CaseFour persons were arrested in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old history sheeter at Maduravoyal on July 21. On a complaint from G Velankanni (45) of Rajiv Gandhi Street in Lakshmi Nagar, alleging that his son Kitcha alias Kishore was murdered by Anthony Tennyson alias Teny, his brother Alex Milony alias Nirmal and their gang members, special teams were formed to nab the accused persons. Kishore was arrested in an attempt-to-murder case by the Maduravoyal police last year and he suspected Nirmal of betraying him to the cops. Besides, his associate Manikandan was also beaten up by Nirmal’s brother Tenny. Hence, Kishore wanted to take revenge against the brothers-duo, the police said. On learning this, the brothers hacked him to death and escaped.Couple Held for FraudA husband-wife duo was arrested on Thursday by the Central Crime Branch for allegedly defrauding an investor to the tune of Rs 94 lakh. In her complaint, M Prabha (38), a resident of Thiruvalluvar Nagar in Avadi, alleged that she paid Rs 94 lakh to S Kamalabai and her husband Shanmugham of Ambattur for investment in JBJ City Developers from 2007-11. On coming to know that the duo had invested only Rs 1 lakh of the amount with the company, she demanded the rest of the money. The two soon went absconding, she said.After a month-long search, police arrested Kamalabai and Shanmugham and the Egmore court, remanded them in judicial custody.
