British Library is organising a workshop on screenplay and script writing by Qaisra Shahraz on January 11, 2012.The workshop aims to train the participants on how to write screenplay and TV scripts and also helps gain an insight into format of TV scripts and the process of adaptations of novels into screenplays for cinema or TV serials. The workshop targets prospective authors, screen and script writers, teachers of creative writing, students of literature, directors, producers and also those interested in screenplay and script writing.During this day-long workshop the participants will gain an insight into the process of adapting novels into screenplays and learn about the important tools of  script writing. The workshop also trains the participants in ideas, plots, actions, dialogue, structure, audience involvement, characterisation, emotions (building the ‘roller coaster’ effect), writing the screenplay etc. The workshop helps the participants learn about the reality of writing script for different genres for example, time, research, skills required and others.The workshop also provides a platform to share ideas with other participants and quiz the author. As a part of pre-workshop activity, participants will have to prepare with the ideas and stories for a screenplay or a TV drama script. The participant has to be prepared to share and work on the same during the workshop. Short synopsis for one scene of film or drama script has to be written during the session. Short scene of the same has to be constructed.  Pack of materials will be available with examples of screen and script writing formats  for participants.
