THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: Bharateeya Janata Yuva Morcha has alleged that all appointments in the Education Department are made in a communal manner under the UDF rule. Yuva Morcha state president V V Rajesh alleged in a news conference here on Thursday that bypassing eligibility and experience members of a particular community were being appointed in key posts in the Department.    Listing out examples, Rajesh said that Narayanan was removed from the post of LBS director and Sayeed Rasheed was posted. Johny K John was replaced by Abdul Rahman as director of VHSE. Prabhakaran Potty was removed from the post of Director, Sakshratha Mission and Alasankutty was appointed. P S Mohammed is the new Higher Secondary director displacing Sunandakumari.  But some of the officers appointed by the LDF Government could retain the post in spite of their Left leanings. Here too the religion came to their rescue. Rajesh pointed out that IT@School director Anwar Sadath was the lucky one.  It is disturbing to see that the IUML leadership has not even considered a single officer belonging to other communities. He said that Vidyarambham magazine, published by the DPI, got a chief editor with no journalism background.  Rajesh alleged that all the 10 top posts in the agencies and departments under the Education Department were headed by persons from a particular community.  The BJYM leader alleged that the UDF Government was implementing the policies of the Jama-athe Islami and Popular Front in the Education Department. Bypassing the criteria fixed for the post of Vice-Chancellor in a university, a Plus-II teacher was appointed as VC in the Calicut University. The Calicut University Syndicate’s decision to give the name of Panakkad Thangal to the newly-constructed building block on the University campus against the decision of the previous Syndicate to give  Ravindranatha Tagore’s name was given up only after public protest. He said that instead of going after appeasing a particular community, the government should give priority to merit and experience in selecting persons for key posts. The Yuva Morcha would take out a march to the Calicut University protesting against communalisation of the Education Department on November 10.
