K-pop Girl Group Red Velvet Announces Comeback With A Mini Album
Red Velvet has confirmed their comeback with an untitled mini album scheduled to release at the end of June.

Red Velvet, the South Korean group formed in 2014, is marking a significant milestone as they celebrate a decade in the music industry. Recent headlines were dominated by the group after fans of members Wendy, Irene, Seulgi, Joy, and Yeri expressed frustration over their delayed comeback. Even Joy expressed her disappointment towards their agency, SM Entertainment, for seemingly overlooking the group’s anniversary. However, amidst the buzz and anticipation, there’s exciting news on the horizon. According to reports from Hankyung, Red Velvet has officially confirmed their comeback with an untitled mini album set to release at the end of June. Currently, the members are gearing up for their much-anticipated return.

In a statement provided to Ten Asia, their agency shared, “Red Velvet is scheduled to make a comeback at the end of June.” This marks their first album in seven months, as the group dropped their third album, Chill Kill, in November 2023.

Earlier, SM Entertainment had dropped hints about the comeback of members Wendy, Irene, Seulgi, Joy and Yeri, but the agency never officially confirmed it. Instead, they prioritised the returns of other groups. Just like fans, Joy also expressed her concerns over the situation. She questioned why their comeback wasn’t celebrated as other artists under SM. This lack of clarity left both fans and members of Red Velvet feeling uncertain about their future activities.

Taking to South Korea’s social media app, Joy wrote, “You know what I’m curious about? There are many groups announced as the stars of the June comeback, right? Among them, there are also other groups from our company. Why aren’t we being informed? I wonder if this will remain a secret indefinitely, or if they forgot to announce it, or if they plan to announce it next week. I’m also puzzled.”

Red Velvet’s upcoming summer comeback is expected to generate excitement among K-pop enthusiasts, as the group is known for delivering smash hits during the season. From their debut tracks such as Happiness, Ice-cream Cake, Rookie and Dumb Dumb to recent hits like Bad Boy, Psycho, Power Up, Peekaboo and Queendom, Red Velvet has consistently entertained audiences with their innovative music and performances.

The group has garnered numerous awards in their home country, but they also received global recognition as well. Time and Billboard recognised them as one of the most popular K-pop groups in the international market. On the other hand, in February 2020, they were ranked as the fifth most streamed K-pop artist worldwide on Spotify.
