Just like fashion and films are inseparable, sports and fashion have also been entwined from time immemorial. Ace tennis player Sania Mirza, who has often made headlines for her sartorial fashion choices, credited her team for making her look as stylish off her field of play and expertise.
"I have a good team around me. I don't understand fashion this much. I just know that this is what I'm comfortable in and it's my stylist's job to make me look good," she said on the sidelines of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018.
The sports star walked the ramp for Hyderabadi designer Anushree Reddy in a vintage pink lehenga on day 3 of the fashion extravaganza. "I was a little nervous in the beginning but once I started walking, it was a lot of fun and I felt pretty in pink. I felt really comfortable," said Sania.
The designer shared that she's been trying for a while to get Sania to walk for her. "Sania was basically the perfect choice for my collection. She's also from Hyderabad. So every time I have a fashion show, I always call her and ask her, 'Are you in town? Are you here?' So it just worked out for both of us. She was my first choice," said Reddy.
Given that the two hail from Hyderabad, the duo shed light on what constitutes Hyderabadi fashion. "I think that royal outfits are very Hyderabadi. See, I don't understand fashion so much. That's why I have friends like her. But I think that royal outfits and heavy stuff is really good. Like Zardozi, a lot of nice and Mughal jewellery or Nawabi jewellery, the vibe is very similar," said Sania.
Reddy added that Hyderabad is really big on Zardosi. "It has a behold like a complete Mughal era, with lumpy and those borders. I think every line has a little bit of something from Hyderabad," she concluded.
