Clearing state civil service exams is not easy and clearing them on the first attempt is even more difficult. But this has been done many times and the officers have turned into an aspiration for many. One of them is ARTO (Assistant Regional Transport Officer) of Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh.
Ijya Tiwari with her sheer dedication at a young age cleared the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on the first attempt. She is from Lucknow. When she was 12 years old, her father died, and all of her family’s savings were exhausted during the treatment. Her family even had to move to a rented house.
Speaking with News18, Ijaya said, “I was 12 when my father passed away and we didn’t have any other source of income. Me and my mother used to take tuition and other small jobs to complete my education. The most guidance in my difficult time was by god as he sent some of the people who helped me through the past difficult phase.”
Ijaya completed her education at Bright Line Inter College, where he teacher gave her a free education and a scholarship after she passed with flying colours. “Ram Manas sir who taught me his school for free and after my schooling, he even gave me a Rs 11,000 scholarship,” she added.
Continuing her struggle journey at the age of 20, she got a job in a bank as a cashier and was in that position for almost 6-7 years. Along with that, she continued to prepare for the civil services examination. During the preparation, for 3-4 years she spent her entire free time on studies and had given up every leisure time she got after my job. After her job at the Bank, Ijaya used to start studying for the exam from 9 pm to 3 am every night.
Ijaya Tiwari is the first woman to be posted in the district in the Transport Department as ARTO. “In my first attempt at UPPSC, I cleared and was posted in Kannauj. But in my life have seen that both good and bad days are there in every individual’s life but the will to fight for achievement doesn’t have any difference irrespective of man or woman,” she added.
Ijaya asserted that the one keyword for every struggling individual is not to worry about that and leave it to god but also don’t stop their hard work, even if they have a business to run, preparing for civil services or in relationships, never lessen their efforts and keep hard work.
She also urged women to never feel less competent and shared that when her father died, her relatives used to say that they didn’t have a man in the house to support her and her mother. “But I knew that I am capable of doing what a son can do for their family and I am happy that I am doing it,” Ijya said. She even credited her mother for her support throughout her journey.
