Meet Aparna Iyer, Wipro's Newly Appointed Chief Financial Officer

Aparna Iyer was named Wipro’s new chief financial officer (CFO) on Thursday. She replaced the previous CFO, Jatin Pravinchandra Dalal, who resigned from his position to explore other career options, reports Business Standard. Jatin Dalal has been associated with Wipro for about 21 years. He was appointed as the CFO in 2015. Jatin Dalal will step down from his role on November 30 and discontinue his services to the IT major company. In his place, Aparna Iyer will be joining the Wipro Executive Board and report to CEO Thierry Delaporte. She joined Wipro back in 2013. Today, let’s take a look at some lesser-known facts about the present CFO. 

In 2001, Aparna Iyer graduated from Narsee Monjee College in Mumbai with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. She was also pursuing chartered accountancy at the same time. In the 2002 Chartered Accountant (CA) batch, Iyer was awarded a gold medal for her brilliant performance. She started working at Wipro as a senior internal auditor in 2003. Aparna Iyer’s leadership qualities paved the way for her to climb the ladder of success in the reputed organisation, in a career spanning over 20 years. 

Aparna Iyer has shown expertise in a number of financial positions, most recently serving as the senior vice president and CFO of Wipro FullStride Cloud. Her previous positions in finance include internal audit, business finance, finance planning and analysis, corporate treasury, and investor relations.

Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte has only positive things to say about Aparna Iyer. According to Delaporte, Aparna Iyer is an accomplished leader, driven towards producing the best results for the benefit of the firm. The Wipro Chief added that in her 21-year journey, Iyer had been a driving force for the company dealing with business leaders with her “dynamic and forward-thinking” strategies. “She has been integral to our finance transformation over the last few years, playing a key role in our financial strategy and planning, investment programmes, and transformation initiatives,” praised Delaporte. 

Placing his faith in Aparna Iyer’s strong business sense, Thierry Delaporte said, “Her commitment to creating lasting value, expertise across the full spectrum of finance operations, and her experience in working with a range of stakeholders will be instrumental in achieving our financial objectives,” as quoted by Business Standard. 

Aparna will join the Wipro Executive Board in her new position and report directly to CEO Thierry Delaporte. Beginning on September 22, she will formally join the company as the CFO.
