64th National Awards: Akshay Kumar Thanks Jury, Fans; Dedicates The Award To Wife Twinkle Khanna
In the minute-long video, the actor said that even though thank you is a small word, he doesn't know how else to express what he's feeling right now.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar won the Best Actor award for his performance in Rustom at the 64th National Film Awards where the best of Indian cinema was honuoured. Soon after the announcement was made, he took to Twitter and expressed his elation over winning the award and thanked the jury and fans for believing in his talent.

He shared a video message and wrote, "#NationalFilmAwards : Best Actor for Rustom, countless emotions, very hard to express my gratitude right now but still tried, a big THANK YOU."

In the minute-long video, the actor said that even though thank you is a small word, he doesn't know how else to express what he's feeling right now. "I'm truly humbled by this honour. I would like to thank the jury and fans for believing in my talent - Rustam has a very special role to play."

He also expressed the joy of wearing the Indian Navy uniform even if it was for a role. "Apne desh ki navy uniform pehnna apne aap mei ek special baat hai chaahe wo ek role ke liye kyu na ho. Aur ab iss award ne isse humesha ke liye special bana diya," he said.

The film, based on the 1959 case of a naval officer K. M. Nanavati and the murder of his wife's lover, explores the theme of infidelity and extra-marital relationships.

He dedicated this award to the blessings of his parents and his loving family especially to his wife Twinkle Khanna. He further quipped that Twinkle started asking him to not attend award shows, as he was never acknowledged with any awards.

"I would like to dedicate this award to the blessings of my parents and my loving family especially to my lovely wife jo mujhe humesha mazaak mei kehti hai acha hua tumne award function mei jaana chood diya kabhi kuch milta toh nahi hai," he said.

He signed off by saying that it's a double celebration for them as the actor is currently shooting for Padman with another National Award winner Sonam Kapoor, who bagged the laurel for Neerja.
