Since Karataka Damanaka is set in the Northern Karnataka region, Doddanna also spoke extensively on the culture of the region.

In 1999, Kannada actor and director Upendra created a cinematic masterpiece titled Upendra, featuring the iconic song Karimani Mallika, composed by Gurukiran. Fast forward 25 years, the song has experienced a resurgence in popularity, captivating the Kannada-speaking community worldwide and igniting a social media trend. Enthusiastic youths are showcasing their renditions of Karimani Mallika on various social media platforms, breathing new life into this beloved classic. The origins of this trend remain uncertain, but its infectious appeal has even attracted participation from celebrities.

The latest celebrity to join the Karimani Mallika bandwagon is seasoned actor Doddanna. However, instead of sharing his rendition on social media, Doddanna chose to serenade journalists during the press meeting of the upcoming film Karataka Damanaka. In this Yograj Bhat-directed movie starring Shiva Rajkumar and Prabhu Deva, Doddanna portrays a supporting role. His impromptu performance of Karimani Mallika added a delightful touch to the event, captivating the audience with his rendition.

Furthermore, Doddanna used the platform to shed light on the cultural richness of Northern Karnataka, the setting of Karataka Damanaka. He highlighted the region’s cultural heritage, delving into the works of renowned poets and reciting verses from old Kannada poems, showcasing his deep-rooted connection to the language and culture. Emphasizing the significance of Northern Karnataka’s contributions to Kannada culture, Doddanna expressed how these themes are meticulously explored in the film.

Karataka Damanaka, scheduled for release on March 8, marks Yograj Bhat’s collaboration with Shiva Rajkumar for the first time. The film promises to delve into the cultural fabric of Northern Karnataka while delivering an engaging narrative. In the recently unveiled teaser, Shiva Rajkumar and Prabhu Deva are depicted as conmen, hinting at an intriguing storyline where they adopt disguises to infiltrate a household.

Yograj Bhat’s previous directorial venture, Garadi, was released last year to moderate success at the box office. With Karataka Damanaka, the acclaimed filmmaker aims to captivate audiences once again, showcasing the dynamic pairing of Shiva Rajkumar and Prabhu Deva in a narrative rich with cultural resonance and intrigue.
