Actress Nadhiya was considered as a top actress of the 80s in South Indian cinema having worked in several superhits with big names. The actress tied the knot in the early years of her career and continued her streak of superhit films. Do you know who is her husband?
Nadhiya married Shirish Godbole in 1988 and shares two daughters with him. As per reports, Shirish was her neighbour. When she debuted in the film industry, Shirish went abroad for higher education. Despite being from different religions, the two tied the knot with the approval of their respective parents. They named their two daughters, Sanam and Jana.
In an earlier conversation with the media, the actress revealed that when she started the relationship with Shirish, they communicated by letters, as he was abroad for studies. When her parents found out about their relationship, they were concerned about how would they get along, since they had vastly different backgrounds. They only had one condition for Shirish: he should have a job.
Nadhiya made her debut in the film industry with the film Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu, a Malayalam movie released in 1984. It is directed by Fazil and stars Mohanlal, Nadhiya and Padmini in important roles. For her work in the film, she became the recipient of the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam.
Since then, she has appeared in films like En Veedu En Kanavar, Rajakumaran, M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, Iniya Uravu Poothathu and many more.
Nadhiya was last seen in the film Let’s Get Married, a Tamil romantic comedy, released in 2023. It is directed by Ramesh Thamilmani and stars Harish Kalyan, Nadhiya and Ivana in lead roles. The film is produced by Sakshi Singh Dhoni, Vikas Hasija, Sharmila J Rajaa and MVM Velmohan under the banner of Dhoni Entertainment. The music is also handled by Ramesh Thamilmani while Viswajith Odukkathil did the cinematography and the editor is Pradeep E Ragav. It was released on July 28, 2023.
