Anupam Kher Says He Misses Having A Child Of His Own With Kirron Kher: 'Would Have Been A Nice Thing...'

Renowned actor Anupam Kher will be next seen in Netflix’s Vijay 69. With a career spanning four decades, the actor has played several characters in more than 500 films. In a recent interview, Anupam talked about his personal life. He mentioned how he misses having a child of his own. Actor Sikander Kher is his step son.

In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Anupam Kher was asked if he misses having a child of his own. The actor revealed that he initially did not feel much about it, but he has started missing the feeling in recent times. He added how he is happy with Sikandar but he said that he missed out on the joy of seeing a child grow up. Anupam said, “I didn’t feel it that much before, but now sometimes I do feel like it. I think in the last seven to eight years. It’s not like, I am not happy with Sikander, but I think it’s a joy to see a child growing up. It’s a joy to see bonding and this is an honest answer to you. I could have avoided answering this, but I don’t want to do that. But, it’s okay. It’s not a tragedy in my life. But, I sometimes feel it would have been a nice thing.”

Anupam mentioned how he started feeling the void as age crept in. But he also added that he does not see it as a ‘sense of loss.’ He said that his wife got busy with her commitments and so did Sikandar. He continued, “All this while I was extremely busy working, but after I hit 50-55, I started to feel the void. It was mostly because Kirron became busy, and so did Sikander. I work with kids in my organization: The Anupam Kher Foundation. We do a lot of work with children, and sometimes when I see my friends’ children and things like that… (I miss having children) but, it’s not a sense of loss.”

Over his career, Anupam has played the role of a father in several movies. His debut film, Saransh, revolved around a retired teacher who grieves the loss of his son. The actor was previously married to Madhumalti Kapoor. They split up and he married Kirron Kher in 1985. Sikandar is Kirron’s son from her first marriage with Gautam Berry.
