Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez' Property Sale Delayed Following Buyer's Family Tragedy
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez had accepted a $64 million offer from a couple in New Jersey, but the buyers recently backed out.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are facing unexpected challenges in selling their former luxurious home. After purchasing the Beverly Hills property for $60.8 million (approximately Rs 507 Crore) in May 2023, they accepted a $64 million (approximately Rs 534 Crore) offer from a couple in New Jersey. However, the deal has hit a roadblock as the buyers recently backed out following the death of their family member, as reported by TMZ.

The couple initially fell in love with the stunning mansion originally listed on Zillow for $68 million (approximately Rs 568 Crore). Despite the setback, insiders suggest the New Jersey couple are still interested in the property and may finalise the deal after they cope with the family tragedy.

The Justice League star and the pop sensation bought their massive 38,000-square-foot mansion with cash. Later, they decided to take out a $20 million mortgage on the property and invested several million more in renovations to improve a few features of the home. They also had to pay a mansion tax of 5.25 per cent and other fees to their real estate agents. Despite these expenses, there is still money left to be divided between them.

Before the New Jersey couple showed their interest in the Beverly Hills house, a real estate source connected to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez revealed to People that there was minimal interest in the mansion among potential buyers. Despite offering luxurious facilities, like 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms and other impressive amenities, including a lounge and a fully equipped gym, it struggled to attract buyers at first.

Speaking with the portal, celebrity realtor Josh Flagg, added, “Generally, people do not sell their primary residence a year after they buy it unless there is a divorce, a death, or some kind of desperation. If a buyer wants to buy a house, they’re going to buy a house. If anything, at least it is giving me some press to the house. It’s good advertising for the property. After privately showing the house for a few weeks, they had very little interest. Publicly listing it was the next natural step.”

Interestingly, a different source shared that Jennifer Lopez was not really interested in the mansion. The property was primarily Ben Affleck’s choice and she considered it as a big compromise. She accepted it because it had a lot of space for both their families, along with a gym, a pickleball court, office areas and two private entrances. However, the source mentioned that JLo preferred a more romantic style, such as Spanish or European designs, rather than the modern look of the house.
