Bryan Adams is not just known for his musical talent but also for his down to earth personality. Currently, he is entertaining fans around the globe with his So Happy It Hurts World Tour. Amid this, an interview of the singer with Norwegian journalist Fredrik Skavlan has been circulating online, where Bryan reminisced about his first concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden. He shared a funny story about how he ended up running late for the show and couldn’t find a taxi. To reach the venue on time, he took a train, only to realise he was surrounded by fans heading to the same concert. Although he tried to remain unnoticed, he ended up having a sweet yet hilarious chat with one fan who recognised him and helped him reach the venue.
The singer explained, “When I was playing in New York at Madison Square Garden, there just wasn’t a taxi. Of course you don’t have that now, you can just dial that up, on your phone. I had to be at a gig, so I thought, I’ll just get on the train. So I got on the train, but I didn’t realise that all the people on the train were going to my gig. I was sort of standing by the doors, there was one guy going, ‘Nah, it’s.’ Then when I got off the train, I didn’t know which way to go. Like, is it that way or is that way. I was looking around and this guy came up to me and asked, ‘Man, are you Bryan f****ng Adams?” I said, ‘Yeah. He goes, you’re on the train?” I said, ‘Dude, help me out, which way is Madison Square Garden?”
Sharing the video from the show, Skavlan, Bryan Adams wrote, “The story of my journey of trying to get to Madison Square Garden – in time for the show – the first time I played there.”
Meanwhile, after a five years hiatus, Bryan Adams is finally returning to India this December as part of his So Happy It Hurts World Tour. This will be the legendary musician’s sixth visit to the country. Fans are eagerly waiting for his week-long tour, which will begin on December 10 in Shillong, followed by Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Recently, Bryan Adams shared his thoughts on performing in India and explained how he would describe the country to someone who has never visited before.
Speaking with Bombay Times, the singer said, “I often tell people about India and our tours there, but no matter how much I explain it, how can you describe India? You must experience India and even then, you won’t be able to describe her. It’s totally unique to anywhere in the world. How do you describe curry to someone who’s never tasted it? I hope I have time to visit Chandigarh, as I have some furniture that was made there, and it’s very beautiful.”
Bryan Adams began his So Happy It Hurts tour on January 29, 2022, in Gondomar, Portugal. After his performance in Cyprus, he will head to Turkey for a show on October 18. The tour is scheduled to wrap up on May 21, 2025, at The SSE Arena in Belfast, United Kingdom.
