Director Dinjith Ayyathan’s film Kishkindha Kaandam was released at the cinemas on September 12, 2024. It has since received accolades from critics and the audience for being a well-crafted mystery thriller. Veteran actor Vijayaraghavan, who played the Appupillai’s role in this film, has also received compliments for his acting prowess. In an interaction with the media portal, Vijayaraghavan talked about this aspect. He thanked the viewers for the compliments about his acting and the film. The 72-year-old actor added that Kishkindha Kaandam looks like a different film after one watches it the second time. According to him, the audience will be able to get a different perspective about the film, after understanding his character Appupillai and then watching it again. Vijayaraghavan said that he cannot thank the audience enough for accepting his character and the film.
Apart from Vijayaraghavan, Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, Ashokan, Jagdish and others have also acted in Kishkindha Kaandam. Goodwill Entertainments has backed this film.
Not only the audience, Dinjith also admired Kishkindha Kaandam in an interview with the OTT Play portal. Dinjith said that it is amazing to see him get into the skin of Appu Pillai’s personality. The 45-year-old director stated, “He had mastered certain hand gestures that exactly suited the character. He continued by saying that in a moment where Vijayaraghavan and Aparna Balamurali are working on an outdoor sequence, the former actually stumbles but masterfully keeps the character’s equilibrium by expressing the appropriate emotions and feelings at that moment.”
Currently, as per an industry tracker website, Kishkindha Kaandam has earned Rs 50 crore globally within 13 days. The India net collections for this film stand at about Rs 27.76 crore in 13 days. Talking about the Kerala Box-Office collections of this film, it has collected Rs 27.79 crore at the Malayalam Net Box Office. On day 13, the film minted Rs 1.34 crore at the Kerala Box Office.
The title Kishkindha Kaandam refers to the fourth book of Ramayana where Rama and Lakshmana strike their fraternity with the vanara (monkey). As per the media reports, Kishkindha Kaandam will be streaming on the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar from November 1.
