'Detective Byomkesh Bakshi' tweet review: Despite its pace, film manages to break the monotony of trashy thrillers in Bollywood

Dibakar Banerjee always has the knack of narrating uncanny stories. From builder mafias to a lovable thief to corrupt bureaucrats- Banerjee's films are always hatke.

His latest is on Bengali literature's most popular detective Byomkesh Bakshy. Based on author Saradindu Bandhopadhyay's novel, 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy' has Sushant Singh Rajput playing the title role in the film.

The story is set in 1940s Kolkata and also features Anand Tiwari and Meiyang Chang in key roles. Swastika Mukherjee and Divya Menon make their Bollywood debut with this film.

While several adaptation have already been done of the series on TV and regional cinema- this is first Bollywood film on the popular sleuth.
