Films can have a significant impact, influencing people in both positive and negative ways. Many films deliver powerful messages and reveal harsh realities, making viewers more cautious. One such film is Duniya Vijay’s Bheema, a Kannada action thriller released on August 9. The movie sheds light on how young people are increasingly getting involved in illegal activities such as drug abuse.
Now, after watching Bheema, a man handed someone over to the police after suspecting them of selling drugs to his son in Bengaluru.
Drug use has affected countless individuals across the country, especially young people. However, parents and guardians often work tirelessly to protect their children from such harmful activities. In a similar instance, a man named Iqbal Pasha from Valmiki Nagar, Bengaluru, was moved after watching the film Bheema, directed by Duniya Vijay and featuring him, Ashwini, Achyuth Kumar, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, and Priya Shatamarshan. The film left such an impression on him that when he discovered a young man selling drugs to his 20-year-old son, he promptly reported the matter to the police.
Iqbal became suspicious when he noticed his son behaving strangely- often withdrawn and secretive about everything. This behaviour led him to follow his son.
Upon following him, Iqbal discovered that his son had purchased drugs from a young man near the Valmiki Temple. He paid Rs 200 for two tablets, which were later found to contain substances used for intoxication. Staff at a medical shop confirmed that these tablets are typically sold only with a doctor’s prescription, but were being misused by some youths who crushed them and injected the powdered form to achieve narcotic effects.
Shocked by this revelation, Iqbal reported the peddler man to the Chamarajanagar police station. The police arrested the drug dealer and seized the tablets. The investigation is ongoing, with suspicions that the dealer may have been hired to sell the tablets illegally.
