IBNLive Movie Awards 2015: Nominees for Best Actor (Negative role)
Take a look at the actors who played negative characters only to ensure they are much more powerful than the film's lead.

There have been several discussions and heated debates about the most deserving films in 2014. The past year saw an interesting blend of films that won commercial success and critical acclaim. So while the big films got bigger, several offbeat projects also found several takers. In the second edition of IBNLive Movie Awards, we select nominees in various popular categories and allow our readers decide the outcome. Take our poll to vote and choose your favourite performers of 2014.

These are the nominees in the Best Actor (in negative role) category:

Kay Kay Menon for 'Haider': He has been typecast before and has played the evil character quite effortlessly in most of the films. But Vishal Bhardwaj managed to make his character Kurram Meer in 'Haider' almost relatable. He played an opportunist politician who plots the death of his brother to be close to his wife. He is shrewd and can go any length to make his lady love smile. He may want to kill his kin to move forward in life, but is also weakened by his love for his sister-in-law.

Riteish Deshmukh for 'Ek Villian': No other actor has surprised us as much as Riteish Deshmukh has this year. Just when the world was criticizing him and the rest of the cast for doing a film like 'Humshakals', Deshmukh bounced back with an eerie performance in 'Ek Villain'. Deshmukh played a henpecked husband who turned a serial killer by the night in Mohit Suri's film. Let's hope, he continues with such different roles and restricts those drag acts for now.

Kumud Mishra for 'Filmistaan': He won us over when he played Ranbir Kapoor's manager in 'Rockstar' and in Nitin Kakkar's brilliant 'Filmistaan'. Mishra played a Jihadi from Pakistan who kidnaps an Indian and holds him captive in a village in Pakistan near the Indo-Pak border. Mishra delivered a restraint performance who spoke less but emoted much more.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui for 'Kick': Who would have thought Nawazuddin Siddiqui would play the typical villain in a masala potboiler like 'Kick' this well. Known for his performances in art house films, Nawazuddin once again proved that he can play any role with absolute élan.

Tahir Raj Bhasin for 'Mardaani': As the sauve, sophisticated, smooth talker leader of a child trafficking unit in 'Mardaani', debutant Tahir Raj Bhasin made the regular 20 year old boy-next-door appear creepy. He would give you respect and call you 'Ma'am' and create havoc in your life at the same time. The film had Rani Mukerji playing the lead character and pitted against a veteran like her did not deter Bhasin as he stood his ground and delivered a super performance.
