Coldplay sent fans into a frenzy on Sunday by adding a third show to their Mumbai stop on the Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 due to heavy demand. This came just hours after frustrated fans flooded social media, complaining about the long virtual queues on BookMyShow. Even Karan Johar joined in on the ticket drama, taking to Instagram Stories to hint that he, too, couldn’t snag tickets for the British rock band’s January 2025 concerts in Mumbai! Tickets for the new show on January 21 at Mumbai’s DY Patil Sports Stadium went live on BookMyShow at 2 pm.
Karan wrote, “Dear privilege, I love that Coldplay and the mini Kelly always keep you grounded… you can’t get everything you want my darling… Lot’s of love… Frugal.”
Karan drew comparisons between the coveted Mini Kelly bag and the tickets. The Hermès Mini Kelly is one of the most elusive luxury handbags on the market. Due to its limited production and exquisite craftsmanship, it has become a symbol of exclusivity. These bags are part of Hermès’ “quota” system, meaning they are only available in restricted quantities, even to the brand’s loyal clientele. Much like the Coldplay tickets, it is extremely difficult to source one.
Coldplay had announced two shows on January 18 and 19, 2025, at Mumbai’s DY Patil Sports Stadium. Fans shared screenshots of their frozen screens as the app faced heavy traffic. BookMyShow said ticket sales for the shows would start at 12 noon, but many users reported that tickets were still unavailable after 12:15 pm.
A BookMyShow rep also told ANI, “We implemented a queueing system to manage the overwhelming demand and addressed issues caused by suspicious and malicious traffic within minutes, causing a brief delay, but ensuring minimal disruption for genuine fans. Due to the unprecedented demand, a third Mumbai show was added shortly thereafter, which also received a fantastic response.”
