Mani Ratnam's Thug Life Secures A Record Deal For OTT Rights
Thug Life is jointly backed by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies.

Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam are once again joining hands after their cult classic flick, Nayagan. The duo will work together in the upcoming movie Thug Life. The news is currently creating buzz and it seems the movie has struck a record deal for its OTT rights too.

According to the latest report, the film’s OTT rights have been bought by Netflix for a whopping amount of Rs 149.7 crore. Recently, various Tamil movies, including Thalapathy Vijay-starrer The GOAT and Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, were also bought for record prices, reportedly.

It seems that the Kamal Haasan starrer has managed to cross all the set records, emerging with such a huge deal to their name. According to the source, the agreement was verified by a well-known Tamil film distributor.

The much-awaited reunion of Haasan and Ratnam is said to be an action-drama flick that would span across different periods. Thug Life is jointly backed by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies. The film stars Haasan in the lead roles alongside Silambarasan, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Ashok Selvan, Pankaj Tripathi, Nassar, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami Gopikumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jisshu Sengupta, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf and Vaiyapuri.

A.R. Rahman created the film’s soundtrack, Ravi K. Chandran handled the cinematography and A. Sreekar Prasad executed the editing.

Kamal Haasan was recently seen in Indian 2. S. Shankar directed this vigilante action film, which he also co-wrote with B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu and Lakshmi Saravana Kumar.

Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies co-produced the film. It is the second instalment after the 1996 film Indian. The film also featured Siddharth, S. J. Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Nedumudi Venu, Kalidas Jayaram, Samuthirakani, Manobala, Gulshan Grover, Brahmanandam, Jagan, Guru Somasundaram and Deepa Shankar in other pivotal roles.

The film grossed a total worldwide collection of Rs 151 crore and was considered a box-office bomb. Due to its length of over six hours, the film was split into two parts, with the latter part, Indian 3, being aimed for release in 2025.
