Jaehyun, a member of the K-pop boy band NCT, is soon going to enlist in the military. Several media reports have confirmed that the 27-year-old K-pop star will begin his mandatory military enlistment on November 4. He will be serving in the military band following his basic training. Moreover, the singer is expected to be relieved from his duties by May 2026.
Following the news of his military enlistment, Jaehyun shared a heartfelt message on the Bubble app expressing his gratitude and deep sense of love for his fans. He began his message with, “Have you been well?” and added that his fans must be surprised by the sudden news of his military enlistment, but he assured them that it still has some time.
“I want to express my feelings to NCTzens shortly. If it weren’t for this job, I would have never been able to experience the precious memories with fans, our precious relationship, and the size of love, and I am grateful for it once again. I’ve always gone at my own pace, and I am so thankful and love all of you who have always trusted and walked by my side,” added the NCT member.

He continued, “Although I say that I will be back quickly and wait just a little bit, I will surely miss you all. I will return back healthily so I hope you all are well and healthy while I am gone. I will continue to work hard as I look back on our memories and anticipate the future that is to come. We’re unconditionally timeless.”
On September 26, NCT’s agency SM Entertainment released an official statement with Star News, confirming the news of Jaehyun’s military enlistment just months after Taeyong, who joined the military in April 2024. They said, “NCT’s Jaehyun applied to join the military band, and today he received his notice of acceptance from the Military Manpower Administration. Therefore, he will join the military on November 4 and fulfil his mandatory service.”
Further adding that there won’t be a separate event on Jaehyun’s enlistment day, SM Entertainment requested, “Since (the dropoff venue) is a place where a large number of soldiers and their families are on the day of enlistment, there will be no separate event to prevent any accidents caused by crowding at the venue. We ask for your support and love until Jaehyun returns in a healthy state after his military service.”
On the work front, Jaehyun released his first solo studio album, J, in August, making him the fourth member of NCT to do so.
