K-pop group SEVENTEEN released their compilation album, 17 Is Right Here, on Monday. The 33-track album listed the group’s songs since their debut in 2015. As part of the album promotions, SEVENTEEN member Woozi hosted a live broadcast in which he talked about the behind-the-scenes of their group’s journey so far. The 27-year-old, who is credited with writing and producing many of his group’s songs, opened up about the emotional story behind their hit song Super which was released last year as the lead single of their 10th studio album FML.
In the live broadcast, Woozi revealed that between their album Face The Sun and Sector 17, the group was going through many hardships. While he did not specify the nature of these hardships, Woozi said that even he and his members were struggling with problems that were beyond their control. Recalling this time, Woozi said that he was so upset that he could not even perform at a fan meet and said, “There were so many bad things going on that I couldn’t even sing a full song at Caratland.”

Woozi said that miraculously when they were recording and later promoting Super, things began to fall in line. As per a fan translation on X, Woozi said, “Thankfully through Super preparations and promotions all the bad things that I was going through were resolved. Just like in the song, our team was able to become a hero.”
After Woozi’s confession, SEVENTEEN fans, called Carats, have taken to social media to express how the superhit song has become even more special to them. A fan wrote, “Woozi making Super with the hope that SVT as a team can get through the hard times they were going through at the time… now the lyrics “I love my team, I love my crew, We already made it this far” takes a whole different meaning.”

Woozi and SEVENTEEN leader S Coups contributed to writing the lyrics of Super. The song was SEVENTEEN’s first top 40 entry on the Billboard Global 200. In South Korea, Super charted on the Circle Digital Chart for more than 14 weeks.
