Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again trailer was unveiled in Mumbai earlier today. The action entertainer can also be billed as a modern-day adaptation of Ramayana and boasts of a starry ensemble including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff and Ravi Kishan. Singham Again marks the first-ever collaboration between the filmmaker and Arjun, who plays the antagonist in it. He looks menacing in the trailer and has grabbed attention for playing the modern-day version of Raavan.
While addressing the media at the trailer launch of Singham Again, Arjun said that he’s almost in disbelief that he’s a part of this action entertainer that belongs to Rohit’s cop universe and has been pinching himself. Talking about how he had reached out to Rohit earlier to be cast in his films, Arjun said, “I feel honoured and blessed that Rohit sir chose me to be a part of this film. I’ve been to cinema halls to watch Golmaal and Singham. I, in fact, even reached out to him wanting to work with him. I also wanted to work with Ajay sir. I didn’t know your dreams could come true to this extent! I’m a bit overwhelmed by that.”
It was particularly after watching the third instalment of Golmaal that Arjun ‘hounded’ the director. “Whenever I saw ‘Rohit Shetty and team’, I wanted to be a part of that team. I watched Singham at Chandan Cinemas. I watched Singham Returns in Gaiety. After watching Golmaal 3, I had hounded him and told him how much I wanted to work with him,” he recalled. And that’s why he has no qualms about even playing a negative character in Singham Again.
“I might be the antagonist, Raavan, in the film but the small child in me, who loves cinema, is so happy and proud to be a part of this massive extravaganza of entertainment. The audience deserves to come to the theatres to watch our film. There’s no better combination than Rohit Shetty, Ajay Devgn and the entire team to give a Diwali bonanza,” added Arjun.
On a related note, the trailer of Singham Again with a runtime of 4 minutes and 58 seconds has scripted history and become the longest trailer in the history of Indian cinema. It was launched at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) today. While it had the rest of the cast graced the event, Deepika skipped the event as she was taking care of her newborn daughter. Singham Again is all set to release in cinemas on November 1 and clash with Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
