Producer Ramesh Taurani reacted to the claims that Telugu actress Sreeleela has walked out of the comedy film starring Varun Dhawan. In a statement to News18, Taurani said Sreeleela was not a part of the David Dhawan directorial film to begin with. He added that although the first schedule of the film is already done, the casting for a female lead is yet to be done.
“We have not yet approached anyone for the role. We are still in the process of finalizing the cast. The first schedule has just been completed, and we will make an official announcement once we have locked someone for that role. Until then, we request audiences not to believe any rumors,” Ramesh Taurani said.
Speaking with ETimes, the producer added, “We were just considering her for the role.”
There were rumours to doing the rounds that Sreeleela has been cast opposite Varun Dhawan in the film. It was said that she would make her Bollywood debut with the film. However, reports surfaced this week that she walked out of the film.
The news of Varun and David collaborating for the third time emerged earlier this summer. In July, it was reported that the first schedule of the film has commenced. According to a report in Mid-day, the filming began on July 12 at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. As per the report, sources reveal that elaborate sets have been constructed for the initial indoor shoots, which are likely to focus on Varun Dhawan’s character. This initial phase will take place during the monsoon season, after which the production will shift to other locations.
Earlier, Pinkvilla has reported a source saying, “Much like all David Dhawan comedies, this one is also a love triangle where the humour is a result of confusion in leading man’s life. The team has roped in Sreeleela to play Varun’s love interest in the film. It’s a pakka-commercial entertainer and Sreeleela also feels that this would be the perfect launch pad for her in Hindi markets.”
