The creators of Citadel recently held a special screening of both Citadel: Honey Bunny (India) and Citadel: Diana (Italy) in London, attended by Matilda De Angelis, alongside Priyanka Chopra, who stars in the original US version.

Although Varun Dhawan, the lead of the Indian adaptation, was not physically present, he found a way to join the event virtually.

The actor posted a series of edited photos, featuring a cutout of himself at the event, on Instagram, claiming, “I was there.”

Coming up with a cheeky response to Varun’s post, Primes Video suggested that critics might call it photoshopped.

However, it was Varun’s friend and co-star, Janhvi Kapoor, who stole the spotlight with her hilarious reaction.

In the original pictures from the screening, the series’ lead Samantha is seen posing with the series directors, Raj and DK. Varun edited his cropped images in the post.

“London premiere of Citadel honey bunny. I was there. Trailer out in October,” the caption read.

In one of his edited photos, Varun wore a stylish blue and red striped suit, in another, looked dashing in a black outfit, a vibrant red suit and a green suit paired with a red shirt. Meanwhile, Varun, who frequently posts shirtless pictures on social media, didn’t include one in his latest post.

Janhvi noticed this change and jokingly mentioned, “How come no shirtless, very unlike you.”

In an earlier interview with OTT Play, Raj and DK talking about Citadel: Honey Bunny said, “It’s a completely original story. Of course, it’s a part of the universe, but a lot of people tend to think it’s an adaptation or a remake. That’s not what it is. It’s actually an independent series with an original story of its own that’s just part of the universe that’s been created by the Russo brothers. So that’s the connection; the universe is the connection. The stories are independent.”

Citadel’s original series features Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in the lead.

The Indian version of the series also stars Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, Kashvi Majmundar, Saqib Saleem and Sikandar Kher in supporting roles. The series is scheduled to release on Amazon Prime on November 7, 2024.
