Actor Andrew Garfield is a divorcee and Florence Pugh is looking for love. The two meet ‘accidentally’, as Pugh’s car hits Garfield. What happens next is straight out of a refreshing rom-com, as promised by the newly released trailer of director John Crowley’s We Live in Time. The official trailer was dropped on Wednesday. As per the trailer, their chance encounter changes their lives over the years as they find love, build a home and raise a family together. However, not everything is a bed of roses and they face a number of challenges on their way.
One specific moment in the trailer that will give you butterflies is when Tobias, played by Garfield, after getting off his neck support for the injuries he sustained, tells Almut, played by Pugh, that he is thinking of leaving. Pugh asks him why he’s in a rush. To this, he replies, “Because I’m worried there’s a very distinct and real possibility that I’m about to fall in love with you." Within moments, they go on to hug each other passionately.
The trailer further shows some glimpses of their life together as a couple. They go on to have a daughter. Soon after that, Almut faces a major health crisis and now, Tobias stays by her side for support. It further hints at a difficult truth the duo faces that threatens their blissful world together. However, the trailer doesn’t reveal what the big secret actually is.
“An up-and-coming chef and a recent divorcée find their lives forever changed when a chance encounter brings them together, in a decade-spanning, deeply moving romance," reads the official description of the film.
Pugh is an Oscar nominee who has previously worked in films like Don’t Worry Darling, The Wonder, A Good Person, Oppenheimer, Dune: Part Two and more. Garfield was seen in the miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven and even has an Oscar nomination for Tick, Tick … Boom! The release date for We Live In Time is tentatively set for October this year.
