Sunny Deol is one of the most popular actors in the Hindi film industry. He has had an illustrious career in Bollywood and enjoys a massive fan following in India. He became into the limelight for action-packed films. Recently, he has made a comeback to films with the sequel to his hit 2001 film Gadar. Gadar 2 has become a huge hit among the audience and people have showered a lot of love on Sunny Deol. But it is important to note that he was among the leading actors in the 90s and all the directors wanted to work with him. One such name was Rakesh Roshan.

According to reports, Sunny had some of the biggest hits in the 90s like Ghatak, Damini, Ghayal, Border and more. He was receiving a lot of recognition during this time and was in demand by the directors and producers. At that time, one of the directors who wanted to work with him was Rakesh Roshan. According to reports, Rakesh Roshan wanted to sign Sunny Deol for Koyla. He went to him with the story, and initially, he agreed to do it. But later, he felt that the film wouldn’t be able to perform well at the box office.

After realising this, Sunny started hiding from Rakesh Roshan and eventually decided to quit the film. Later, Koyla went into the hands of Shah Rukh Khan, who starred opposite Madhuri Dixit. The movie went on to become one of the biggest hits of SRK’s career. The pair was highly appreciated by the audience, and Koyla went on to become the 9th highest-grosser of 1997. SRK and Madhuri Dixit later starred in various films together like Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam, Devdas and Dil To Pagal Hai.

Despite missing out on such a big film, Sunny Deol was still able to be among the top actors. Currently, he is enjoying the success of his recently released Gadar 2. The film has become a huge hit and has collected more than Rs 500 crore at the domestic box office.
