The Bar Council of India (BCI) will conduct the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XVIII on December 10. It was earlier scheduled to be held on December 3 but has now been postponed to avoid a clash with CLAT PG and MP State Judicial PT exams. The last date to apply has been extended to November 16. Earlier, it was November 10.
The last date for the payment of application fees is November 17. The last date for correction of the application form is November 19. The admit cards for the AIBE 18 will be made available from December 1 to 5. Candidates can apply for the exam on the official exam websites — allindiabarexamination.com, or barcouncilofindia.org.
The council in an official notification stated that it has received several communications from concerned candidates expressing the challenges the overlap in the exams present. “Recognizing the significance of the All India Bar Exam, CLAT PG, and MP State Judicial PT, the BCI is committed to providing candidates with a fair opportunity to excel in these examinations,” the notification by BCI read.
AIBE 18: How to Apply
Step 1: Go to the official website of All India Bar Examination
Step 2: On the homepage search for the ‘AIBE XVIII Registration 2023′ link and tap on it.
Step 3: Register yourself.
Step 4: Fill in the form with the required details.
Step 5: Pay the application fees, and submit.
Step 6: Take a printout of the acknowledgment form for further use.
AIBE is conducted for law graduates who want to become practising lawyers in India. The Bar Council of India (BCI) administers this exam to evaluate candidates’ understanding and abilities in the fundamental aspects of law and legal practice.
Candidates from the OBC or open category must achieve a minimum score of 45 per cent to qualify for the exam. For SC, ST, and specially-abled candidates, the passing score is set at 40 per cent. Individuals who pass AIBE 18 will be awarded a Certificate of Practice (COP) by the council which is necessary for practicing law in India.
