The National Medical Commission (NMC) released the syllabus for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024. Students have been instructed by the comission to use this “updated” syllabus to prepare for NEET 2024 and to create study materials.

Candidates can check and download the NEET UG 2024 syllabus by visiting the official website of the commission at nmc.org.in. “It is notified to all the stakeholders, especially to the aspiring candidates that the Under Graduate Medical Education Board, an autonomous body under the National Medical Commission has finalised the NEET UG 2024 syllabus,” read the official notice released by NMC.

The official date of the NEET 2024 exam was also declared by NTA recently. On May 5, 2024, the NTA NEET UG examination is scheduled to take place. The online registration dates are yet to be announced. It is the only exam in the country to admit eligible candidates to undergraduate medical programmes, such as MBBS and BDS courses. NEET 2024 will be a pen-and-paper test covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology curricula from Class 11 and 12 textbooks, administered in 13 languages.

To appear for the NEET, candidates must be 17 years old by December 31, 2024. Candidates must be Indian nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas nationals of India (OCIs), PIOs, or Foreign Nationals to appear for the exam. Students who have completed or are about to complete their 10+2 or equivalent exams are eligible to apply for NEET. Candidates must have completed Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English at a recognised board. In the qualifying exam, candidates must obtain at least 50 per cent in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. In addition, the minimum mark criterion for applicants from the SC, ST, and OBC-NCL categories is 40 per cent.

Meanwhile, medical colleges that fail to comply with statutory provisions and NMC’s regulations can be fined Rs 1 crore per violation. A penalty of Rs 5 lakh can be imposed on the faculty, head of department, dean, director, or doctor submitting false declarations, documents, and records, including patients’ records.
