'Selectors Shouldn't Forget Him': Ashish Nehra Bats for Experienced Indian Pacer's Comeback
Former India spearhead Ashish Nehra has raised his concern over selectors ignoring Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the forthcoming tour of South Africa.

Fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar may have lost favour in the current set-up of the Indian cricket team but he hasn’t left following the process behind the curtains. Last turned up for the country in November 2022, the right-arm quick has been away from Team India’s scheme of things. However, he has been an impactful bowler in the domestic circuit, especially in the shortest format of the game.

Bhuvneshwar ended among the top wicket-takers in the inaugural edition of the UPT20 earlier in September, picking up 14 wickets in 9 matches. He continued with the momentum in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 with 16 wickets in 7 matches.

What has brought him into the discussions again is his snub for the forthcoming South Africa tour. The selectors have put their faith in a young brigade while Bhuvneshwar still looking for his way back into the Indian team.

Former India spearhead Ashish Nehra has raised his concern over selectors ignoring Bhuvneshwar for the forthcoming trip to the Rainbow Nation. Speaking with Jio Cinema, Nehra said he wasn’t surprised by the selector’s pick for the tour, adding that they must also keep an eye on Bhuvneshwar as well.

“I am not at all surprised that the selectors have picked three different teams. Pretty much everyone’s name has come. There might be hardly any player who is there or thereabouts whose name is not there,” Ashish Nehra told JioCinema.

“Only one name comes to my mind, because you are going to South Africa, and you have picked a lot of fast bowlers, and that name is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. I understand that you have other new-ball options, you have Arshdeep Singh, and Mukesh Kumar is playing

“However, if you see all the options, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is an experienced bowler who I would say is still doing well. The selectors should keep an eye on him. They shouldn’t forget him, especially when you talk about T20 and 50-over formats,” he added.

SunrRisers retain Bhuvneshwar for IPL 2024

Trusting one of their seasoned campaigners, the SunRisers Hyderabad have retained Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the next season. The franchise has released as many as 6 players and traded one – Mayank Dagar – to the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
