Fashion designer duo Paras Baroliya and Shalini Jaikaria return to Mumbai after more than a decade and are all set to present their collection Luminescent at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week 2022.
Inspired by fireflies parading in the middle of night, the collection is an effort to preserve this into a memory. Reminiscing each one glittering with luminosity, the collection will bring to life Paras and Shalini’s vision on the runway.
When asked if they were excited to come back to a fully physical event? Paras Baroliya and Shalini Jaikaria say, “Absolutely! Not just to a physical showcase, but our brand also comes back to the fashion week platform in Mumbai after more than a decade."
The designer duo who presented a digital showcase during the pandemic, believe that both the platforms are important. “Runway shows combined with digital and social media make a great combination to increase the outreach to a much wider audience. It’s a very interesting phase as images/videos add life to the products. Some candid, some curated to work the visual delight to eventually promote consumption," adds the designer duo.
Known for their love for art, mystique and nature, this time the brand will bring something new to the showcase. The designer duo says, “Art, Mystique and Nature’s pride has always formed a source of inspiration for us at Geisha Designs. Here we have consciously moved away from our signature style where strong sensibilities and powerful tones take forward the former subtle, sensual becomes sexy, mild gives way to shimmer/shine and sparkle. This is a magical and bold collection for a delightful evening or a special occasion in a woman’s life."
The fashion industry post pandemic has been working towards building a better future, have you noticed any positive changes? “Sustainability has become a strong voice. Ethically produced and sourcing lend to environmental consciousness. Indigenous handmade techniques which lead to sustaining a craft /craftsmen/artisans is being widely delved into. Focus has been to re-use, recycle materials available to ensure minimum wastage," express the designer duo.
