New Delhi: Planning Commission Member Arun Maira on Tuesday said that his new book focuses on reforms that can ensure a stronger economy and is "very different" from what others have written recently.

Maira's book titled 'Redesigning the Aeroplane While Flying - Reforming Institutions' comes on the heels of books written by Sanjaya Baru, the Prime Minister's former media adviser, and PC Parakh, the former coal secretary, which also talked about the functioning of the UPA government.

"My book is very different from their books. Their books are accounts of what was going on, the inside stories about what was going on...It's about reforms required in institutions in our country so that we can have a stronger society and a stronger economy," Maira said.

Baru alleged in his book released last month that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh played second fiddle to Sonia Gandhi, a claim the Congress party dismissed as "cheap fiction." "Of course, in their books there is an impression that things weren't completely right. Now, of course, the concern is what should be done to make things completely right. And that's what my book is about," Maira said.

Parakh claimed in his book said that Singh was heading a government in which he had "little" political authority. "Now, in a way, yes, logically it follows the others, that what was happening and it wasn't very good. So, what shall we do? So here comes my book about what we need to do," he added.
