Political analysts believe that Singh gaining prominence is not good news for Scindia, who is already facing a stiff challenge from Kamal Nath.

Bhopal: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday appointed senior leader and former state chief minister Digvijaya Singh as the chairman of the coordination committee of Madhya Pradesh, where elections will take place later this year.

MP Jyotiraditya Scindia has been appointed as chairman of election campaign committee.

Digvijaya Singh has been brought into party affairs along with his old loyalists, including Mahesh Joshi, Rameshwar Neekhra, Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Vibha Patel and others.

Soon after completing his ‘apolitical’ Narmada Yatra, Singh had expressed his wish to work for party’s unity alongside old guards to bring the party back into power.

Political analysts believe that Singh gaining prominence is not good news for Scindia, who is already facing a stiff challenge from Kamal Nath.

Gandhi also approved the appointments to the Election Campaign Committee, Election Planning Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Manifesto Committee, Media team and names of 20 district presidents of the Madhya Pradesh Congress.

Senior leader Rajendra Singh has been appointed as chairman of Manifesto Committee while veteran Hazarilal Raghuvanshi has been kept as chairman of Disciplinary Action Committee.
