After disappearing for two days amid an ongoing investigation, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday lodged an FIR against the Enforcement Directorate officials for conducting raids at his Delhi residence in connection with a money laundering case.
The police complaint was registered at the SC/ST police station in Ranchi just hours before the chief minister’s questioning in the case began, sources said. Soren claimed that he and his family members suffered immense mental, psychological and emotional harm due to the actions of the ED officials.
“An FIR has been lodged against some senior ED officials… we got the application from the chief minister, Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandan Kumar Sinha, told PTI.
“Mr Kapil Raj, Mr Deovrat Jha, Mr Anupam Kumar, Mr Aman Patel and unknown others, all officers of the Directorate of Enforcement, Ranchi Zonal Office, having their office at Hinoo, Ranchi,” the excerpts from the complaint read.
“The action of the above officers who have conducted search operations in Jharkhand Bhawan, New Delhi and ut 5/01, Shanti Niketan, New Delhi to harass and malign me and my entire community,” it added.
An ED team searched Soren’s Delhi residence on Monday and camped there for almost 13 hours to question him in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land deal in Jharkhand.
The agency claimed to have seized Rs 36 lakh, an SUV and some “incriminating” documents during the search. Soren is presently being questioned by ED sleuths at his Ranchi residence regarding the same case.
In his complaint, Soren also claimed that the BMW car seized by the probe agency did not belong to him and also denied possessing illicit cash.
“I am not the owner of the car of BMW which the abovenamed persons claim to have seized. I do not own any illicit cash. The abovenamed persons and unknown others who are not members of any Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe have done the aforesaid acts intentionally to humiliate me in public,” Soren said in his complaint.
