New Delhi: BJP had the responsibility to form a coalition in government in Jammu & Kashmir but the party has not compromised with its ideology or India’s sovereignty by joining hands with the Peoples Democratic Party, said party national general secretary Ram Madhav in New Delhi on Friday.
Defending the decision which is still being criticised by BJP’s rivals, he said, “Only the BJP is a party that understands how to respect the mandate of the people and we have accepted the challenge. The PDP-BJP coalition is not an ideological alliance and nor is it a political alliance, it is a governance alliance. We are trying to give good governance to the people of J&K."
While speaking at Modi Sarkar Year One Dialogue, a conclave organised by Network18, Ram Madhav said that the BJP would never compromise with the issues concerning integrity of India.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating the stature of India all over the world. He ridiculed the previous UPA government’s image saying that India was not taken seriously then.
Centre has set up a Black money SIT to probe and bring the money back to India. He said, “Opposition has no point to raise against us. We have a Zero tolerance policy towards corruption."
He also said that the PM Modi has restored the respect, dignity and honour of the nation, and emphasised that the government is engaging at multiple levels.
Defending Modi’s frequent foreign visits, he said, “Former PM Manmohan Singh spent 47 days abroad in the first year of his tenure. Modi has spent 51 days. But, Manmohan is not remembered by anybody. Modi excites the people both at home and abroad".
Ram Madhav said, “The Prime Minister has worked day and night for the pride of Indians. The opposition has taken a few words out of context and making an issue out of it saying that earlier we felt ashamed to be called or identified as Indians."
Justifying PM’s speeches and interactions he said, “You had a PM earlier who would not even speak, what to say on that? Our PM speaks, people listen to him and respect Indians. In the last 10 years people were confused where the PM lived. 7 Race Course Road or 10 Janpath? Now we have a good, strong leadership working for the people."
