Priyanka should disclose husband's shining business model: BJP
The BJP also challenged the Congress for a debate on the "land versus land" issue claiming.

New Delhi: On a day Priyanka Gandhi tore into the Gujarat model of development accusing Narendra Modi of selling thousands of acres of land to his "friends", BJP on Friday hit back asking her to disclose the "model" under which her husband Robert Vadra's business grew manifold even during recession.

The party said that it was not making any personal attack by raising Vadra's land deals in Haryana but was highlighting corruption. It promised a fair probe into it saying it will not be "personality centric" but "law centric".

The BJP also challenged the Congress for a debate on the "land versus land" issue claiming that in its case land was allotted to industry for promotion of employment, increasing production and GSDP and but it was "allotted for personal profit" in case of the ruling party.

"Congress leaders raise question over development model of Gujarat. My question to Priyanka Gandhi is that when the country was passing through the phase of recession, how come her husband's business model was shining," BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said in Lucknow.

He said, "Priyanka must tell that how a person can make Rs 300 crore in three years by investing rupees one to two lakh." BJP leader Arun Jaitley said the probe into Vadra's land deals will be fair and will not be driven by personality of the individual concerned.

"We will be fair. We will be law centric. We won't be personality centric," Jaitley said on whether there will a fair probe against Vadra if BJP comes to power. Prasad said "no action will be taken with political vendetta and law will take its course."

BJP Spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, "We are not attacking persons. We are not raising personal issues. These are corruption issues. We are ready for a debate on land versus land issue - where land is given to industry for increasing employment, production and GSDP and that given for personal profits."

He said Priyanka was attacking the Gujarat model without knowing it and accused her of making a virtue out of corruption and trying to project herself as a victim. BJP leader Uma Bharti, who had sparked a controversy by saying that Vadra will go to jail after the elections, said, "Law is equal for all. If he has committed any fraud, he will go to jail. Otherwise not.

BJP said Priyanka has come out in the open after Rahul Gandhi "failed". Questioning her on the business model of Vadra "whose profits rose from Rs 8 crore to Rs 58 crore in three months", Javadekar said, "millions of youngsters want to know the formula of the success story".

Taking a dig at her, the BJP spokesperson said, "You are making virtue out of corruption. You want to project yourself as a victim. Victims are not those who indulge in corruption, who are beneficiaries of corrupt practices."

Attacking the Congress, Javadekar said the ruling party had lost all sense of proportion and was thus attacking Modi. Accusing Congress of working for "commissions", he said, "When we work in mission mode everything is possible. When Congress works in Commission mode, nothing is possible. That is difference between the mission mode and commission mode."

The BJP spokesperson also questioned her to show one Congress-ruled state which had given 24-hour power, whose agriculture growth was 10 per cent continuously for a decade and whose GSDP was up 12 per cent every year.

Prasad said that while Modi talks of removing inflation, corruption, unemployment and insecurity, Sonia, Rahul, Priyanka, Mulayam SIngh Yadav, Mayawati, Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad all say "stop Modi, remove Modi".

He also questioned Sonia and Rahul on why inflation, corruption and unemployment increased during the last decade. Javadekar also said that since Congress knows that it cannot win, it has adopted the "Stop Modi campaign" and said the BJP graph which is rising has become a threat to others. He also released another party theme song - "Main kamal khilane aaya hun" by singer Udit Narayan.
