New Delhi: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi once again hit out at the Narendra Modi government for not helping poor and farmers in their hour of distress. In his recent attack on the government, Rahul took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign trips.
Rahul said, "The Prime Minister who is now on an India tour, should go to Punjab, should visit the Mandis and see ground situation."
In his third speech in the Lok Sabha in two week, Rahul raised the issue of farmers' distress due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms which have destroyed lakhs of hectares of crops. He said, "It is your government, it is our government, but it is not the government of farmers and labourers."
Making a strong pitch for farmers and enumerating their sufferings, Rahul said, "Your government did not help the farmers when it rained. He was not compensated, he suffered. His grain is not getting sold in the Mandis."
Mocking at Modi's 'Make In India' campaign, Rahul asked whether farmers weren't a part of the project. "Is Make in India not about poor farmers. Is Make in India only for crony capitalists?" asked Rahul.
Food Processing Minister Ram Vilas Paswan took a swipe at Rahul over his nearly a two-month long sabbatical to a mysterious place. Paswan said that while he was vacationing, the Modi government was busy addressing the problems of farmers.
Rahul who is criss-crossing the nation is meeting grief-stricken farmers in different states. After meeting farmers in Punjab, Rahul will reach Nagpur in the evening and will embark on a 175-km long padyatra from Thursday morning. Rahul has made it clear that he will lead the Congress's fight against the Land Bill.
Rahul said he will continue his fight to protect the interests of farmers and accused the Modi government of aiming to snatch agricultural land for corporate houses.
Rahul single-handedly took on the Narendra Modi government on the Land Bill after his return. He first addressed the Kisan rally and and then raised the issue in the Lok Sabha.
