The other big highlight of the survey is that BJP is expected to win Odisha by bagging 15 of the 21 Lok Sabha seats.

New Delhi: The SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh stands between Narendra Modi and a second term, a series of pre-poll surveys conducted by ABP News-C Voter has found. In other words, the survey is a reminder of the old saying about the road to New Delhi going through Lucknow.

According to ABP News- C Voter survey, if the SP-BSP alliance falls through, the NDA will come to power with 291 seats, 19 more than required. But if the alliance between the two works out, NDA will be reduced to 247 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, 25 short of a clear majority.

BJP won a decisive victory in 2014 general elections, thanks to overwhelming support from UP, where it won 71 out of the 80 Parliamentary seats.

The survey has found that the SP-BSP combine in Uttar Pradesh will win 50 seats, pushing NDA to a meagre 28, a loss of 43 seats from the 2014 elections, if the polls were held today.

The grand alliance, in which Congress is still trying to find space, will be buoyant on a proven track record. It has won three major bypolls, Chief Minister's constituency Gorakhpur, deputy Chief Minister's constituency Phulpur, and Kairana, where RLD was supported by the other biggies.

The other big highlight of the survey is that BJP is expected to win Odisha by bagging 15 of the 21 Lok Sabha seats. UPA is expected to make big gains in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
